Phytochemical analysis and ethnomedicinal uses of Oroxylum indicum in Nepal

Background: Plant natural products have a long history of usage as source therapeutic agents. Oroxylum indicum (L.) Kurz is prominent plant in South Asia, comprising several phytochemicals with substantial medical significance, including the treatment COVID-19. Methods: Herein, we documented medicinal importance O. throughout Nepal using questionnaire-based survey and validated findings through biochemical analyses. Results: All fractions (water, hexane dichloromethane) obtained from different extraction solvents revealed high abundance alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, saponins, carbohydrates that consistent its vast ethnomedicinal uses generated questionnaire survey. Conclusions: In nutshell, promising based on our current experiment, more research capabilities might lead to new scientific avenues novel drug discoveries.
